nice mic
Sound better than my other Radio Shack mic which costed me the same price. This mic sounds even better (less distortion) when I use the XLR cable instead of the one that came with it (XLR on one end and 1/4in on the other end).

Not a great mic,but worth the price
Its a cheap mic and you get what you pay for. It a crappy vocal mic, but if ur using it in a studio like i was it can be somewhat useful. Works good for micing a drum and with some decent EQ, its not terrible. In terms of using it as a vocal mic, I had some problems. First its very sensitive to any type of sudden movements. If you don't hold it tightly, you will get loud booms any time u move. Overalll, you can make up for the sub par quality by using it in combination with their high quality mics.

Mic Review
Great mic for the money. This will do nicely until i have the money to buy a more profesional studio mic.

Applications
Connect the 520DX directly into a guitar amplifier to produce the classic blues harp sound. Use the following guidelines:

Awesome Sound Quality
This Harp microphone was exactly what I was looking for. It has a nice fit in the hand and is easy to hold while playing. The volume control is a must for someone who is wanting to move out front an let the harp sound fly. The quality is excellent. Now I see why this model of mircophone has been around so long and why everyone who plays seriously is using the Green Bullet.

Little Walter could play through anything...
... and still sound great. Hate to break this to you, but you're no Little Walter! Well, at least I'm not. :) I've tried cheaper mics. This one makes a real difference. It's substantial to hold in your hand, deceptively heavy. The volume control is great...I can go from playing rhythm harmonica to taking the lead very easily. If you're serious about blues harp, this is the mic you need.

A classic...
After attempting to use several other mics to play harmonica through, I finally bought one of these and have never been sorry I did. This mic is perfect for harmonica. The range of sound is great, it is comfortable and easy to hold in your hands with the harmonica, and it doubles as a decent voice microphone. In fact, I think it adds its own flavor to any sound that is sent through it. I highly recommend this mic, and this is a good price.

Definitely worth the money!
I just started recording my own music and these Mics are the best purchase I've made so far. They're much cheaper in a package and comes with everything you need to mount onto a drumset. You'll need to supply your own cables though.
I made a few preliminary recordings with this kit plus 2 Rode NT5's for overheads and the raw recording sounded very professional. After a little bit of tweaking and running a multi-band compressor, the piece sounded awesome!
The SM57's are built to last. I've seem some torture tests and these things just don't seem to want to break.
You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Great price on TOP quality mics!
These microphones are VERY high quality. SM57's are clear, clean and bulletproof... and after I put the Beta-52 in my kick drum, the 18s shook harder and the 15s punched tighter. The reason for my review, however, isn't to rave about these mics (they speak for themselves, do some research), but to rave about the PRICE. Just buying 3 SM57s individually will cost you 0. Add the Mic clips at a piece, and you're at 0 already, and that doesn't even count the Beta 52, which is now cheaper than free! (and it's the most expensive mic in the kit!). What a deal. I bought 2. At first I wasn't sure I could use the other Beta 52, but I couldn't see paying MORE to buy the other 57s I needed... and as it turns out, that "extra kick mic" sounds GREAT on my 18" floor tom! If you need mics and want quality and aren't rich... BUY THIS SET!

Good mics, great price.
If you're doing live sound or a budget, or just starting to get into decent recording gear, this is definitely not a bad place to start. You can put an SM57 in front of just about anything and get a usable sound. A lot of people love them on snare's and guitar cabs, and get fantastic sounds from them. I'm sure you could get BETTER sound from other mics, but it's a very versatile mic, and is a great bang for your buck. It would never hurt to have 3 in your mic locker... especially if you're doing live sound. I haven't used mine live so I can't comment on the included rim mounts as I use stands in the studio, but they seem like they'd get the job done.
Given the choice, I'd probably prefer to own an AKG D112 over the Beta 52... but I couldn't pass up the price of this pack. I have both, and use them for different things, depending on the sound I want. I'm definitely not complaining about the Beta 52. I'm super happy with it, and it definitely has its place in the studio and venue. The Beta 52 is less expensive... especially if you buy it in this pack. So why limit yourself to one kick mic? Start with this pack, and if you feel like you need another mic down the road when you have extra cash, get a different one. The more the better.
If your goal is to mic a drum kit on a budget, get these and a budget pair of small diaphragm condensers for overheads (MXL 603s perhaps), and you're set.
If you know exactly what you want and don't mind spending a bit more, buy different mics. If you're on a budget (studio OR live), are just getting into the realm of decent gear and need a starting point, or happen to be searching for a few SM57's and a Beta 52, this is the package for you!

Drum Mic kit
If you are playing in a large venue and putting drums through the PA or recording, this is one of the two drum mic kits to get. The other kick drum mic to consider is the Audix D6, but the Shure B52 is used by many professionals, too. As far as the SM57's in the it go, they are the ultimate desert island mic - good on anything. The rim connectors to hold the mics work fine - you will need a small stand to attach the B52 with for the kick drum. Overall, this is one of the best kits out there at a reasonable price - it comes complete with a nice carry case as well.

PG 58
A good microphone for indoor music studios.
I used this for the independant films for a few months and it DID NOT WORK RIGHT!
It is all in 1 channel mono which is annoying as hell!
It would often turn on and off automaticaly unless on a boom, the cords don't stay in correctly at ALL!
It has really pissed off many of us in the productions.
I would only perfer this microphone to musicians.
is a bad price when you can buy a condeser microphone for that works 10 times better!

Perfectly meets my requirements
Nicely built and works well for the singing needs of our friends and family. Mostly being used inside a house, and perhaps the SM series would generate better sound, but I could not tell the difference between this and other more expensive mikes we've used in our singing sessions.

Sorry, Charlie.
I wasn't real impressed with this Mic. Granted, i didn't pay a whole heaping for it, but still. I gave it three stars because it hasn't failed me yet and it's made very well. The biggest drawback was the sound quality. I have a cheaper offbrand mic and it sounds just as good.

Just right for the money.
Building a home studio, owned a few mics before this, some were more expensive some cheaper. This microphone blows them all away, there's a reason Shure has such a good reputation in this industry. This mic is built rock solid, the switch feels really solid and I don't have to worry about it breaking. First time I used this I was absolutely amazed at how crisp and clear the recording was. I'm buying two more.

Needs preamp too
Added external preamp to bring input up to computor level, then works great. Am recording from 1920's 78 rpm records first played on the old wind up horn players...smooth and sweet with little hiss and noise...nice.
Mounted to a Garrard AT6 changer arm easily.

Excellent Cartridge
Good cartridge for playing your old 78's. Automatically connects from
mono to stereo connection.

Great Product but Beware of Instructions
The sound quality plucked out of my old 78s is excellent, and the cartridge does it with a low tracking force. Highly recommended.
Beware, however, of the installation instructions. For proper operation, remove the jumpers. Thanks to other reviewers for the heads-up on this.

Perfect!
The cartridge mounted perfectly on my Dual CS5000 turntable, and plays 78 rpm records beautifully. I am more than content.
