This microphone is legendary and rightfully so
I couldn't believe the improvement in the quality of my recordings. I use it to mic guitar amps and also for vocals. Truly a high quality all around microphone, priced for musicians on a budget.

Reliable, Multi-use Microphone
I have owned several of these over the years for both live and studio use. I have used them for drums, Leslie speaker, bass as well as vocal. I used it for vocals, as I get more punchy on my vocals when I sing seated at the piano than when standing and I've never been able to over-drive this mic. They have been dropped, exposed to the elements, and had many road miles on them. Never failed once. Excellent freq response. A huge bang for the buck.

Great Mic, but bad delivery from Amazon, LLC
Mic is good and maybe even great for the price. But I'm not happy with ordering from Amazon.com, LLC. Late arrival and no place to leave seller feedback. It's best to stay with a name store.

It's an SM58
Really there isn't anything to say here. This is an SM-58. If you are in the industry you know what this is.
If you aren't, then read on.
If you need a bulletproof mic that will never break, this is it. It's a dynamic cardioid mic. That means its super tough, doesn't need phantom power, it will be extremely difficult to distort, and that it picks up the sound only in front of it, technically.
I've had a few of these, and I've abused them all, A LOT! I've had some get wet, all have been dropped and banged about, and they still all work like day one.
I won't comment on the sound, that's up to you to decide. Anything anyone tells you about the sound is simply their opinion.

It's a Shure thing
The Shure SM58 vocal microphone is the only microphone I trust in the field and onstage. It captures live sound from interviewees and rock star singers in a crisp and clear manner without costing too much money. It's got a solid design, omnidirectional capture, and good pickup from a distance. Every broadcast news reporter and singer should be using this microphone for live-action sound. I wouldn't use it in the studio for recording or voice-overs unless you have to. You will be satisfied with this microphone--it's a Shure thing.

Great mic
I bought this mic about a month ago, its really great. Sounds very clear, and audible. The tone isn't completely accurate, but most of that has to do with my recording device. Anywho, its a good mic, and I hear its durable. I'll be writing another review after I drop it down a flight of stairs, to see just how o.0 (I've heard its THAT durable, but I'm not really clumsy so...)

The most famous!
This is with out a doubt the most famous microphone in the world.
It is resistant, very resistant, that's why I recommend it for live shows, gigs, talks, etc.
The sound is great!!
Compared to microphones from other great brands as jts, peavey and fender the sound of the SM58 is more clearer and more defined,.
No wonder is the choice of many many professionals for singing, for vocals and fot backround voices.
Even though is a little bit more expensive than other brands, the quality of sound and durability and resistance of the materials make the justification of the price.
I have seen that most professionals prefer the SM-58 without on/off switch. Tahe note on that detail, they say it sounds a little better, for my experience I couldn't hear the difference, but it is a point to consider.
On the other hand, if you want an even better and more expensive vocal microphone, you may want to check the Beta 58A.
Please note this microphones are made specially for vocals, not for instrument pickup, if you need one for instruments such as a guitar, harmonica, or wind instruments, you may need a Shure SM-57. It works for vocals too! but is not as resistant as the SM-58 that's why I prefer it.
In conclusion it is a good buy, and you will never repent to have the most famous microphone in the world in your studio and in your giggs.

Beware! Too many fake clones out there!
I brought 2 used one from amz, both are fake clones. How can u tell? Easy, google it. One seller quickly refunded me plus my shipping cost even though I didn't ask for it. The other seller (ez sold aution) hasn't reply at all and I had to get my money back though amz, and I had to pay myself to ship the fake microphone back!
The real microphone sounds just awesome, that's why it's chosen by the Pros. That explains why so many clones out there.

Bright, detailed, and with low-feedback tendencies--A standby
The Shure Beta 58A is a road-ready, industry standard for live performance mics.

Known for it's bright BRIGHT, clarion sound, it is an easier mic to work with,
from a live sound engineer's perspective, than the popular,
but more problematic (feedback-wise) Shure SM58.
Being SUPERcardiod, the Beta58A has a tighter/closer pickup-pattern,
and so is less prone to feedback---You just sing closer
to a supercardiod mic than a cardioid--Sometimes, almost, or maybe even lightly, touching the mic.

Any engineer will tell you that the extra-brightness of the Beta 58A mic gives you
better sound to work with at the board---It is simple to "darken" a too-bright sound with
a little EQ. But a "too-dark" sound is definitely harder to brighten with EQ
or any engineering manipulation.

For recording, the Beta 58A is OK, mainly for beginners, as a vocal mic.

For advanced/pro recording use, it is good mainly on electric guitar cabs
and some percussion.

And, it is a durable mic, for sure.

good dynamic mike for alto voice
This mike is a good dynamic mike for vocals, but for women it seems to favor the alto voice over soprano. For soprano voice, I still like a condenser mike, especially with a tube pre amp.
